A CALL TO SEXUAL PURITY

1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

1 Corinthians 7:2
But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
For this is the will of God, your sanctification:[a] that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,  not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you.  For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.  Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

"LIED TO DEATH"

Would you rather feel good or be well?

A lot of folks are made to feel good while in actuality they are dying.  They are suffering from the horrors of the undiagnosed disease of sin.  They are exemplifying all of the symptoms of sin i.e. unforgiveness, malice, fornication, adultery, lying, stealing, disobedient to God’s Eternal Commandments, idolatry, homosexuality, false doctrines, witchcraft, licentiousness, lewdness, pornography, vulgar speech, vulgar appearance, vulgar thinking, drunkenness, sexual perversions and uncleanness, BUT NO ONE WANTS TO TELL THEM ABOUT THEIR DREADFUL DISEASE OF SIN.

Most folks are satisfied with being made to feel good about themselves. (2 Timothy 4:3)  They want to be encouraged in their sinful state. They want to be excused from any genuine change and told that they can be successful Christians through the process of self-improvement, learning to live right and understanding God’s Word by continual studying and church attendance.  Some are convinced that they can be saved simply by believing in the Lord whereas the demons also believe and tremble.  Are demons saved by faith also? If the demons are not saved then neither are those who simply receive Christ with a gesture of faith or some man-made sinner’s prayer.

I’d rather hear the truth about my sinful condition that threatens my eternal soul rather than be deceived into believing that I am alright then die and go to hell. I had rather be thoroughly examined, properly diagnosed and prescribed God’s eternal commandments for salvation (Repentance, Water Baptism in His Name and the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit – John 3:3-7 and Acts 2:38) and take my medicine now than walk around thinking I am saved only to hear the Lord tell me on that day “…I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Matthew 7:21-23)

As for the would be deceiver of my soul, there is a dreadful day ahead for him. (Ezekiel 33:1-9)

I’D RATHER BE WELL THAN JUST MADE TO FEEL GOOD.

How about you?

“There Is Only One Way”– The Bible Is Right and Somebody Is Wrong

I cannot help but to be concerned about my fellow believers in Christ Jesus who are so argumentative and divisive about what genuine salvation is.

Some say that they are saved simply because they have believed the gospel. However, they don’t obey the gospel.

Some say that they are saved because they have verbally confessed the Lord Jesus Christ. However, they don’t keep His commands.

Some say that they are saved because they have received the Lord Jesus Christ. But what does that really mean?

Some say that they are saved because they have been baptized into water in the name of Jesus Christ or in the name of the Father and of the Son and of The Holy Ghost.  But did they die to sin before the burial?

Some say that they are saved because they speak in tongue. But, the devil can imitate the tongue.

Some say that they are saved because they belong to a church or denomination. But is the Church in the Truth?  Is The Pastor Born Again and Sent By God?

Some are convinced of their salvation because they have experienced a strong emotional demonstration or they have undergone a lifestyle change whereby they don’t have any social vices or bad habits. But is salvation based upon habits, feelings, loud shouting and dancing in the church?

Sadly, eternal salvation doesn’t exist in any one of these. And although it pains me to say it, there are some believers (Churchgoers) who are not going to be saved.
Many are carnal minded, rebellious, stubborn, deluded and confused and cannot come into a saving knowledge of the Truth. (Romans 8:7, 1 Corinthians 2:14, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11, 2 Timothy 3:6-9)

Many would-be Christians expend enormous amounts of energy through emotional displays, theatrics and public performances, attempting to convince themselves and others that they are saved when in actually they are unchanged. They have been deceived by Satan, blinded by their own lusts and confused by their desire to validate their own Faith.

Nevertheless, for whatever reason or cause, many believers believe different things about God’s One True Plan Of Salvation and I am concerned that in this confusion of religious diversities, many would-be saints are being lost.

And regardless of what anyone thinks or says, it is the living Word of GodChrist Jesus - who is the ultimate authority and final judge of what is required for salvation and who is saved and who is not. (Matthew 7:21-23, John 5:22, 27, Acts 17:31, Acts 10:42)

And behold there is only One Way to be Saved – Jesus Christ!

Is Prejudice More Powerful Than Position?

(Originally written and published by Bishop O.W. Prince October 2009)

Is Prejudice More Powerful Than Position?

On September 9th, 2009, during a joint session of congress, when President Obama said that the health care plan would not cover illegal immigrants, Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) openly called President Obama a "liar." However, upon closer examination, the Democratic health care plan clearly states in HR.3200: "Sec 246-- NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS." Now because of Joe Wilson's lying outburst, his campaign funds have increased significantly and he has gone from obscure to famous, especially in the State of South Carolina..

Is Racism More Powerful Than Position?!

While the civil rights laws of the 1980s were passed, effectively integrating the races, they never passed in the hearts and intent of many white Americans. As I like to say, "You can not legislate love."

Under U.S. Segregation Laws, African Americans built and were in charge of our own institutions. We ran our own schools, built our own banks, and started our own colleges. Then, during our struggle for freedom and equal rights under the law, the notion of integration was introduced. This idea of integration was clandestine in nature because it carried with it the assumption that black folks wanted and needed to integrate into white churches, white schools, white neighborhoods and white society. It never proposed that whites attend black colleges, join black churches, and move into black neighborhoods, except to move blacks out. The racist assumption was that black folks would step up by integrating into white society and the whites would step down by integrating into black society.

When the Civil Rights Laws were passed, it meant that that those who could afford it and were qualified according to white’s standards were integrated into white society, while the rest stayed behind. But regardless of our sacrifices, economic successes and academic accomplishments - regardless of our elevated socio-economic positions, increased political power and leadership, blacks were never afforded the same level of respect, honor and prestige that we held in the black community.

Regardless of the office, regardless of the position, regardless of the qualifications of the African American, there are still those racist elements in American society that seek, through clandestine and public demonstrations, to diminish the honor and reverence due to any office or position that is held by a Black Man. They send a clear message that regardless of our education, work ethic, public service or attained political office, African Americans are still inferior to the white man and not deserving or entitled to rudimentary human respect or professional courtesy. This was never more evident than on September 9th, 2009, when Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) publicly called The United States
President Barack Obama a "liar."

The highest and arguably the most powerful office in the world, had to endure a heinous and besmirching public insult by one of its own citizens and elected official because there are those who feel that a black man should not be president and they have no intention of respecting or honoring the Office while a black man occupies the White House.

Although Mr. Wilson offered a written statement of apology, the sincerity of his apology must be suspect since he has gained popularity and notoriety because of it. Furthermore, his home state of South Carolina appears to applaud his lack of decorum, professionalism, civility and respect for the office of the President of the United States as well as for his fellow laborer in the joint session of congress. Mr. Wilson has portrayed himself in the media as a passionate fighter for truth whose passions got the better of him on September 9, 2009.

Bull!

I refuse to buy into the notion that Mr. Joe Wilson's emotions got the better of him during President Obama's speech. On September 9th, I believe that he knew exactly what he was doing and that he behaved as planned. After all, he is a politician and as such, must be aware of protocol and decorum. I don't believe that his emotions got the better of him as he has tried to imply. There was no provocation equal to his response that would justify his outburst. If he was so passionate and concerned about the truth and the welfare of the citizens of the United States, where was his outburst when former President Bush engaged the United States in an unjust war based on unsubstantiated claims of "Weapons of Mass Destruction?" Mr. Wilson didn't call Mr. Bush a liar. Where was Mr. Wilson's uncontrollable passions when the Governor of His home State of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, went AWOL for seven days and lied to his wife and his state about his adulterous whereabouts. Joe Wilson didn't call Governor Sanford a liar.

If Mr. Wilson's indignation was righteous, he should have been uncontrollably incensed at the lives and quality of life lost by our service men and women who volunteered to serve in the armed forces only to be thrust into an unjust war. He should have been publicly outraged at the lack of personal moral integrity of his state's Governor. However, Mr. Wilson's response to these tragedies has been controlled or nonexistent. Now he wishes us to believe that he is so passionate about what he believes that he forgot where he was and to whom it was that he was addressing.

Bull!

He knew exactly what he was doing because he planned on doing it. I know that this assessment may be difficult for some of our fellow Americans to accept. However, those of us who have been around for 50 years or more and have suffered at the clandestine hands of systemic prejudice and bigotry, can attest to the fact that racism is pervading, persistent and very personal--it often is expressed in ways that are purposely ambiguous so that the intent of the offender may be obscured and plausibly explained away if challenged. However, many of us have learned to look beyond the veil of alleged misspoken slanders and racial slurs and see the hooded devil for who he is. We have had generations of practice at this. For over 400 years, our very survival depended upon our ability to discern an enemy from a friend. Our white counterparts can not boast such a life and death experience. For the most part, by virtue of being born white in America, they enjoyed a privilege and a feeling of entitlement that blacks could only dream of. Therefore, their sense of injustice, racism, and prejudice would not be as developed, acute or accurate as one who has suffered because of these evils.

It is my position that Mr. Joe Wilson should lose his seat in the U.S. House of Representative for his blatant disrespect of the office of the United States of America and of President Barack Obama. He should be forced to apologize publicly in the same venue in which he broadcasted his insults. I believe that Mr. Joe Wilson should be penalized financially and any future pension benefits should be forfeited because he desecrated the joint session of Congress and violated Section 370 of the House Rules Manual explicitly prohibited members from calling the president of the United States Of America a "liar."

In 2002, Senator Trent Lott suggested that the nation would've been better off had Sen. Strom Thurmond won the presidency in 1948 while running on a segregationist platform. Later realizing the racial overtones of his comment, Senator Lott apologized for his statement and eventually resigned his seat as Senate Majority Leader.

In 2004, CBS News Anchor Dan Rather broke a story about how the young George Bush got preferential treatment during the Vietnam War; how he maneuvered his way into the Texas Air National Guard back in the 1960s to avoid service in Vietnam; and how he was able to do it because his father was a big-shot, a United States Congressman from Houston. The story portrayed President Bush as a slacker. Others have said it portrayed him as a "cowardly draft dodger." Nevertheless, after 44 years of service with CBS, Dan Rather was fired.

Others have paid severe penalties and suffered considerable personal losses for making racial comments and slandering the president of the United States of America. Why Should Joe Wilson slide by? Everybody else had to face some significant consequences. Why not him?

How our society, the United States House of Representative and the Obama Administration, treats this obvious racial attack will send a message to every black man, woman, boy and girl in America as well to our posterity about the worth of an African American in the United States even when he is President.

Does position trump prejudice?

I already know the answer.

Do you?

"Grace Defined"

Grace bright lights
Lately it seems that the term “grace” is being used by religious folks to refer to everything but the kitchen sink.
One of the ways it is being defined by some Christians is that grace is the opposite of the Law.  However, contrary to popular opinion, grace is not the opposite of the Law or commandments of God.  The opposite of the law isindecency or lawlessness.  But Grace is favor over the Law.  It is the favor that comes from being God’s child, and not from justifying our actions or behavior legally or otherwise.  If you sin against God and repent –demonstrating your desire for forgiveness and mercy – earnestly desiring to be in a right relationship with the Father – His favor or His grace accepts your apology even when the Law demands your punishment.
Grace logoAnother way of understanding this is to say that we are always “under the law” of God but we are not always subject to the demands and penalties of the Law although we may be found guilty of a violation of the law.  I know that this seems to contradict the Word found in Romans 6:14 that says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”  But if you were to look at this scripture in the light of Jesus’ teachings you would realize that Romans 6:14 doesn’t mean that God has done away with His Eternal Ten Commandments.  To the contrary, we all are subject to the eternal commandment of God and instructed by Jesus to keep all of God’s commandments. (Matthew 7:21-23, John 14:15, John 14:21, 1 John 2:4). Therefore, God’s Eternal Law abounds over us but where the law abounds grace much more abounds – admonishing us to obey God’s Commandments voluntarily and go and sin no more. (Romans 5:15, 20)if-you-love-me
For instance, if you were caught speeding – doing 55 miles per hours in a 35 miles per hour speed zone – you were guilty of a traffic violation but you repented and acknowledged responsibility for your offense – then the Law Enforcement Officer, instead of penalizing you as you deserve, issued you a warning ticket – he showed you mercy.  This act of kindness doesn’t justify your violation nor does it relax the law or license you to continue to speed.  It simply extended mercy toward you, allowing you another opportunity to comply with the law and obey the speed limit from here on out (John 8:10-11).  But if you practice speeding and continue to disregard the law, mercy will cease and punishment will be enforced.  However, grace accepts the penalty (punishment) for our transgressions and relieves us from the consequences of our lawlessness.  But this grace is not for everyone.
Now God may have mercy on whomever He will but His grace is reserved for His children.
Many are under the impression that “Grace” is somehow extended to everyone regardless of their willful disobedience to God’s commandments.  Thus they believe that in order to be saved by grace all that they have to do is recite a prayer or repeat a confession of faith.  Others think that gracesomehow excuses them from any obligation to observe and keep the Eternal Moral Commandments of God.  They believe that God will pardoned their willful disobedience and lawlessness on the merits of grace. However, they are dangerously mistaken.
Only those who obey God’s commandment to repent (die to sin) and are baptized into the death of Jesus Christ may consider themselves children of God and eligible to receive His grace.
A good way to understand how Grace relates to one’s relationship with God is to think of God as a good parent and ourselves as children (Matthew 18:2-4).  Children have favor in the eyes of their parents.  If they obey their parents, they are rewarded.  If while obeying their parents they get into any trouble or break anything, the parents assume responsibility and pays any cost on behalf of their child.  The child doesn’t earn this grace, it is freely given by virtue of the child’s relationship to the parent. However, a child of disobedience (a practitioner of sin) has no expectation of grace or favor from God.  God is not his parent.  His parent is Satan (John 8:44).
Grace GodsGraceLet me summarize. Mercy is the acts of being excused from the full weight of the consequences of our offence  although we are guilty of breaking the law.  It is withheld punishment or postponed condemnation for God is NOT willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).  Whereas Grace is the act of receiving what we could not earn or deserve on our own.  It is unmerited favor and forgiveness.  Grace is reserved for those who have Repented,Kept God’s Commandments and Obeyed His will (Romans 6:1-4).
“Mercy doesn’t save us.  It gives us time to repent.  God’s Grace Saves!“ (Ref. Matthew 7:21-23, Ephesians 2:8)Ephesians 2_8 grace
All Praise Honor and Glory belongs to God the Father through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
